Stoney Anderson is the only remaining original member of ASFTT. Brent Javier, a high school friend of Stoney's, joined the band in early 2007. In 2007, they won Colorado’s Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, which gave them a slot on the Denver show of the Warped Tour.[5] A few months later the band recorded a Selftitled EP Album.
After this the band toured with Escape The Fate, Dance Gavin Dance, Emarosa, and A Skylit Drive while on the Warped Tour, before co-headlining a US tour.
A Smile from the Trenches released their debut new album called ,Leave the Gambling for Vegas, through DC Records, on October 13, 2009. They released the first single, Juicyfruit on October 10, 2009.
On January 9, 2010, the band released a second single off the album, Bad Romance, a cover of Lady Gaga's hit. On May 15, 2010, the band announced the departure of Derek Jones. In an interview done on Altsounds.com, it was announced that Jones had joined Ronnie Radke's (formerly of Escape the Fate) band Falling In Reverse.[6]
On September 21, 2010, the band report at street fans group, and the blog of the myspace, that the band is currently preparing and recording a new album, which will be released in early 2011.[4]
On December 1, 2010, Ahmad Alkurabi announced that he would work on his sideproject band "Maleva".[7] .A few months later Stoney posted on the bands website the following
"We are not giving up or quitting, right now ahmad and i are getting shit together in our lives figuring out how to get on top of our debt and be able to tour and get a solid lineup that is not going to just bail on us and not show up for shows. We had every intention of playing the last shows that were up on our page but we were not able to because certain members didnt show up. We will be putting up a demo track by the end of the weekend hopefully and can't wait to hear what you think about it. By the end of the year we will have a new album, tour dates and merchandise for all of you to love and cherish. Please keep supporting us and spreading the word. You are all the reason that we started doing and the reason that we'll continue to do A Smile From The Trenches"
